Versatile actor Prakash Raj has carved a unique identity for himself across languages by portraying several memorable and powerful roles, and he is all set to play a key role in Varanasi, the upcoming global adventure.
Most recently, he impressed audiences with his voiceover in the audio glimpse of Spirit, starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Now, Prakash Raj has revealed that he is playing a devoted follower of Lord Shiva in the much-awaited film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
The global action-adventure film Varanasi, which marks the powerful combination of Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli, has already created sky-high expectations. The movie is currently progressing at a brisk pace and is slated for release next summer. In the film, Mahesh Babu will be seen as ‘Rudra,’ while Priyanka Chopra plays ‘Mandakini’ and Prithviraj Sukumaran appears as ‘Kumbha.’ Interestingly, Mahesh Babu will also be seen in the role of Lord Rama.
The title teaser offered a glimpse into the grand scale and visual world of Varanasi. In a recent Hollywood interview, the team also hinted at the film’s genre and storyline, giving audiences a small idea of what to expect.
Speaking about his role, Prakash Raj said in an interview that the recent schedule of Varanasi was extraordinary and deeply satisfying as an actor. He thanked Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj, and Priyanka Chopra, saying that working with them was truly energizing. He added that he is eagerly waiting for the next schedule.
Following his comments, there were speculations that Prakash Raj might be playing Mahesh Babu’s father in the film. During a recent debate on a news channel, he clarified that he is portraying a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva in the movie. He also revealed that he will be playing a key role in the Hindi film Drishyam 3 as well.
