The Tamil comedy-drama Thaai Kizhavi, led by veteran actress Radhika Sarathkumar, has emerged as the top Tamil film of the year. Surprising trade analysts, the film grossed over ₹75 crore worldwide, performing strongly in both domestic and international markets.
The latest update is that Thaai Kizhavi will begin streaming on Jio Hotstar from April 10, 2026. While there is no official word yet on dubbed versions, based on the platform’s usual practice, they are expected to be released alongside the original Tamil version.
Directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, the film features Raichal Rabecca, Athadi Kumaran, Singampuli, and Munishkanth in key roles. Produced by Sivakarthikeyan, the movie’s music is composed by Nivas K. Prasanna.
The film’s unusual plot revolves around an elderly mother who falls ill. Her irresponsible sons, eager to inherit her property, wish for her death. However, their plans take a shocking turn when they discover she has hidden 160 sovereigns of gold, setting off a chain of unexpected events.
