Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani Movie Review The idea of mixing a crime incident with a chaotic yet good-hearted middle-class family is interesting. Unfortunately, that idea alone remains the only positive in Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani.

The Background:

Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani (2026) is a Telugu crime comedy-drama starring Sivaji and Laya. Directed by Sudheer Sriram, the film marks the reunion of Sivaji and Laya after nearly two decades. Initially planned for an OTT release, the movie was shifted to theaters following suggestions from industry insiders.

The Story:

Set in Kothapeta, Annamayya district, the film follows Sriram (Sivaji), a sincere panchayat secretary who lives with his eccentric wife Uthara (Laya) and their son Mittu (Rohan). One day, he clashes with SI Vikram Vasudev (Prince). Later, the same SI visits Sriram’s house, leading to an unexpected chain of events.

The Good:

The opening sequence, where Sriram introduces his wife and son and their quirky behavior, works well and sets the tone for the film. The chemistry between Sivaji and Laya is appealing, and they look convincing as a pair on screen. Their presence adds impact to a few scenes.

The Bad:

The premise of an innocent middle-class family accidentally getting involved in crime and trying to hide a dead body is intriguing. If handled seriously, focusing on the family’s emotions and their struggle to conceal the crime, it could have been another version of Drishyam.

However, director Sudheer Sriram fills the narrative with chaotic and supposedly funny situations around the family, but the humor rarely works. For most of the film, the proceedings feel random. The crime angle lacks tension, and the multiple characters and scenarios fail to generate genuine fun.

The Worse:

The portrayal of the child character played by Rohan is irritating rather than entertaining. His behavior feels poorly written, leaving audiences annoyed instead of amused. Many viewers may even feel the character deserves punishment, which shows how badly the role was conceived. In the final half hour, the film attempts a twist in the crime angle and adds sentiment to the family’s story. While the twist is somewhat acceptable, the rushed backstory and the way the police catch him appear silly and unconvincing.

Screentime:

With a runtime of 2 hours 30 minutes, Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani gives audiences plenty of time to check their phones, as it rarely offers moments strong enough to keep them glued to the screen.

Takeaway:

The idea of mixing a crime incident with a chaotic yet good-hearted middle-class family is interesting. Unfortunately, that idea alone remains the only positive in Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani.

Bottom Line:

Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani – Sarvanashini

Rating: 1.5/5
