After the groundbreaking success of the Dhurandhar franchise, Ranveer Singh is set to headline Pralay, a zombie thriller set in a post‑apocalyptic world. The film features Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead and is directed by Jai Mehta, son of renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta.
Hansal Mehta has described Pralay as a unique project, unlike anything attempted at this scale in India. Produced by Ranveer Singh himself, the film carries a massive budget of ₹300 crores, underscoring its ambition as a pan‑Indian spectacle.
Addressing speculation, Hansal clarified in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India that Pralay is an entirely original concept and not inspired by the Portuguese novel Blindness, as some social media users suggested.
He further explained, “Jai had been developing this idea for quite some time. When Ranveer saw his work, he reached out, and Jai presented the concept. Once Ranveer came on board, we began investing in its development, helping Jai build the world he envisioned. Pralay will showcase unprecedented world‑building for a Hindi film, depicting a dystopian city overrun by Zombies.”
