The Movie Artistes Association (MAA) has released an official note clarifying its position as the only recognized artistes’ body representing actors across both Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Official Recognition
MAA is formally affiliated with the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and the Telugu Film Producers Council. It is also the sole artists’ association that works in coordination with all 24 crafts of the Telugu film industry, safeguarding the welfare and interests of its members.
Warning Against Fake Groups
The association strongly condemned the misuse of its name by certain individuals and unauthorized groups operating under misleading titles such as “AP MAA” or “MAA AP.” Reports suggest these groups have been illegally collecting money from artists while falsely claiming affiliation with MAA.
Clear Clarifications
MAA categorically stated:
- No organization under the names “AP MAA” or “MAA AP” is officially recognized.
- MAA has not authorized any individual or group to collect funds, membership fees, or donations outside its official channels.
Strict legal action will be taken against anyone misusing the MAA name or misleading artists and the public for personal gain.
Call for Vigilance
The association urged all artistes and industry members to remain vigilant and avoid making payments to unauthorized entities. Any such incidents should be reported directly to the MAA Office, Film Nagar, Hyderabad.
