Reports suggest that Vijay, the Tamil superstar and chief of Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam, is currently facing a legal dispute with his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam, who has filed for divorce. Now, she has taken another legal step in the case.
According to reports, Sangeetha has filed a fresh petition in the Chengalpattu District Court seeking an interim order to protect her right to stay in their matrimonial home located in Neelankarai, Chennai.
In her petition, she stated that she is a British national and does not have any other residence in Chennai. She expressed concern that she could be denied accommodation while the divorce proceedings are ongoing.
The Chengalpattu Family Court has scheduled the next hearing for April 20, 2026. Reports also suggest that Vijay has been directed to appear in person for the hearing.
Sangeetha filed the divorce petition under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, citing allegations of adultery, cruelty, and emotional neglect after 27 years of marriage. The petition also claims that she discovered Vijay was involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress in April 2021.
Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports stating that Vijay may have offered an alimony settlement of around ₹250 crore in an attempt to resolve the matter privately outside the court.
