The commercial action entertainer Ustaad Bhagat Singh – UBS, starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Harish Shankar, is now gearing up for its OTT release after an unexpected disappointing run in theatres.
Before its release, the film carried huge expectations. This was mainly because it marked the reunion of Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar after their blockbuster Gabbar Singh, which significantly raised excitement among fans. The presence of popular actresses Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna as the female leads further added to the film’s buzz.
Released in theatres on March 19, the movie opened to mixed responses from audiences. Unfortunately, it failed to generate the expected box office collections. Adding to its struggles, the simultaneous release of Dhurandhar 2, which turned out to be a massive success, impacted its performance, preventing it from making a strong mark even during the opening weekend.
Meanwhile, leading streaming platform Netflix has already acquired the digital streaming rights for the film. According to the latest reports, Ustaad Bhagat Singh -UBS is likely to premiere on OTT on April 23, with an official announcement expected soon.
After facing setbacks in theatres despite high expectations, the film is now set to test its luck on the digital platform. It remains to be seen whether Pawan Kalyan’s fans will give the film a better reception on OTT.
