Reports claim that he spent a massive ₹120 crore. The producer has now reacted to these rumours at a recent event.
Dil Raju is not just a successful producer but also a well-known distributor. Recently, he acquired the Nizam rights of films like Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Nari Nari Nadu Murari, which were released during the Sankranti festival and went on to earn huge profits. Continuing his successful distribution streak, Dil Raju has also secured the Telugu rights for the much-awaited film Toxic.
Did Dil Raju Pay ₹120 Crore for Toxic?
Directed by Geethu Mohan Das, Toxic stars Yash in the lead role and is being made as a big-budget pan-India film. The film is scheduled for release on March 19, and its pre-release business has reportedly been completed. According to industry buzz, Dil Raju acquired the theatrical rights for the two Telugu states for a whopping ₹120 crore. However, this figure has sparked debate, with many questioning its authenticity.
Some critics have even claimed that the amount being circulated is exaggerated and that the news is fake. Responding to these rumours, Dil Raju addressed the issue during the title glimpse launch event of the film Markandeya, where he attended as the chief guest.
When reporters asked him directly whether he had really paid ₹120 crore for the rights, Dil Raju responded firmly. He said that if anyone doubts the price he paid for Yash’s Toxic, he is ready to show his bank statements after transferring the money. However, he smartly avoided revealing the exact amount.
Toxic Creates Buzz Nationwide
Meanwhile, Toxic is gearing up for a grand pan-India release. The teaser, released a few days ago, received both praise and criticism from audiences. Kiara Advani plays the female lead, while Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Nayanthara appear in key roles.
