Avinash Tiwary's character got wasted in O'Romeo.

O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, is his fourth collaboration with Vishal Bhardwaj and has been released in theaters this Friday. Unfortunately, the film is receiving mixed reviews. While the trade is hopeful that the film will get some momentum today and tomorrow, there is an interesting revelation about the film that came out, that Avinash Tiwary, who played the film’s villain role, Jalal, was not the first choice for it.

Randeep Hooda, last seen in Sunny Deol’s “Jaat” (2025), was originally cast as the antagonist in “O’Romeo.” However, he had to withdraw from the project due to his wife Lin Laishram’s health issues, leading to Avinash Tiwary taking the role.

Despite initial hesitation, Tiwary ultimately accepted the role. But audiences feel the character of Jalal didn’t provide enough opportunity for the actor to showcase his talent. Still, appearing in major films that release in a huge number of screens can be beneficial for any rising actor.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo features Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, also starring Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, and Nana Patekar, along with Avinash Tiwary. Based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film was released in theaters alongside Bejoy Nambiar’s Tu Yaa Main, starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor.
