There has been strong buzz over the past few days that actress Sai Pallavi is set to replace Deepika Padukone in the highly anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. While there is no official confirmation yet, sources close to the makers and industry insiders claim that the decision is almost finalized.
A few months ago, Deepika Padukone exited the Kalki sequel following reported disagreements over working hours, financial terms, and the length of her character. Though Vyjayanthi Movies did not reveal detailed reasons, the production house officially confirmed that they parted ways after failing to reach a mutual agreement.
Reports now suggest that Sai Pallavi will step into Deepika Padukone’s role in Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2. As of now, the makers are yet to make an official announcement, which is expected soon.

The sequel will continue its dystopian sci-fi narrative, focusing on Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) and Bhairava (Prabhas) as they attempt to protect Sumathi and her unborn child from the powerful antagonist Yaskin (Kamal Haasan). The film will explore Yaskin’s backstory, the mysterious Flux Lands, and the deeper connection between Karna and Bhairava.
Fans can expect an intense battle to protect the child, believed to be Kalki, and a major face-off between Bhairava and Yaskin, who has gained enhanced powers through a serum. Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Ashwini Dutt, Kalki 2 is scheduled to begin production in February 2026. The film will feature Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in key roles, with Sai Pallavi expected to play Sumathi.
